As a general rule, if you’re married your partner can move with you and reside on the Island. If he/she wants to work, they’ll have to find a job and a local employer to sponsor them for a work permit.
If you’re not married then your partner can accompany you to reside offshore if they also find a local employer who will sponsor them to get a work permit. Alternatively, if you’re not married but in a long-term relationship and deemed to be economically dependent, learn more about ‘genuine and subsisting relationships‘ for non-married couples wishing to move to Bermuda.
A partner’s employment rarely causes an insurmountable problem for couples who are determined to relocate and willing to be patient, persistent and flexible in their search though it’s sensible to make an assessment at the outset.
If you have children then your salary will need to be sufficient to ensure that your family can be self-sufficient. There are private schools on the Islands and these need to be budgeted for. Make your Recruitment Consultant fully aware of your personal circumstances from the outset so that you can be advised properly.
