Passport and return/onward flight ticket

  • You must possess a valid passport for entry into Bermuda
  • You need to have a return air ticket – if you are returning to the same place you came from – or an onward ticket if you are continuing to a further destination. You’ll be denied entry if you try to land with just a one-way ticket; your employer knows this and, as standard, a return ticket at the end of your notional contract duration will have formed part of your job offer
  • Tickets can be e-tickets or an itinerary issued by the airline as long as it contains a Booking Reference Number and clearly shows your next destination and departure date/time
  • If you’re a national of the USA, UK or Canada, you don’t require any kind of visa to enter Bermuda irrespective of whether you are a tourist, business visitor or a work permit holder

Obtain a multiple re-entry visa (if required)

  • Nationals of countries other than USA, UK and Canada need to have a multiple re-entry visa (MRV) for the USA, UK or Canada (as applicable, depending on your chosen route to get to the Island)
  • The MRV basically ensures that a visitor is also able to leave Bermuda and return to his/her own country via one of the three chosen intermediary countries when the time comes
  • If you need to present an MRV, ensure it is valid for at least 45 days after the end of your visitor stay or the end date of your work permit; likewise make sure your passport is valid for at least 45 days past the same duration period

Visitor Arrival form

  • Shortly before landing, you’ll be given a short Visitor Arrival form which will ask some basic information such as your name, home address, initial Bermuda address (your employer will have told you where you’ll first be staying) and purpose of your visit/arrival. Simply fill this out and hand it in to Immigration whilst they are checking your passport and verifying that you have been successfully granted a work permit
