When
it comes to looking for accommodation in Bermuda, we recommend that you start your
search after you first arrive on the Island. You will normally be put up
in a guest house for two to four weeks to give you time to locate a
property.
House
sharing is a popular option since this allows you to split overheads and
therefore reduce costs, as well as enabling you to get to know new people
easily and quickly. It is normal practice for
landlords to request a returnable damage deposit which often equates to
one month's rent.
The
easiest way to find accommodation is via adverts in the Bermuda press (see
examples of recent adverts below) or online sites (also
see below), through the office bulletin board or HR
department, or (best) via word of mouth once you arrive.
You
also have the choice of using the services of a real estate agent. Note,
however, that this can sometimes be a more expensive option than doing it
yourself.
We strongly recommend that you do a thorough search of
the accommodation available rather than taking the first place you see
since prices and facilities can vary considerably so proper research
definitely pays off!
